macOS on a laptop that is not always open
MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 both run on macOS and both keep the workspace they were given, which is the main argument for installing them. A laptop that is closed and carried around still reopens with the same charts and the same indicators, so the setup is done once rather than each evening.
The browser platform argues the other way. It is reached from the Personal Area in Safari or Chrome, it adds nothing to the disk, and it leaves no application to update on a machine that is only online for part of the day. For a Mac that is mostly used for other work, that is often the lighter arrangement.
The two are not exclusive. The account is the same in both, so an evening session in the desktop terminal can be picked up from a browser on another computer the following day. A laptop left behind does not strand anything, because nothing that matters lives only on it.
